History will soon come to life at the Ashland Cemetery.

The Ashland County Historical Society's Living History Cemetery Walk is set for Sunday, May 15 at the Ashland Cemetery located at 523 West Main Street. The tour will begin at 1 pm with groups beginning every ten minutes.

Tours will make several stops following two routes, where many of Ashland’s historical figures will come to life as portrayed by local talent. Each character will spend a few minutes sharing factual information and telling stories about their life in Ashland and how they were a part of our history. Period costumes worn by the portrayers further heighten the experience with an aura of authenticity.

A few of the characters being portrayed this year include Fred Bockley, one of the town's leading druggists during the late 1800s and early 1900s; Elias Grosscup, a native son of Ashland County who rose to a position of distinction as President of Farmers Bank; and Dr. David Sampsel who opened an office in 1851 and treated patients for 44 years. He also served three terms as Ashland's mayor.

The tour is appropriate for families and all ages. Please plan on joining us for this event. Free and open to the public; donations are welcome.
